Hey! Im gonna start 'lifting' as they say. Any body have any advice for a newby?

Have you researched for a lifting program? Have you decided on a specific fitness goal... Is it for weight loss, loose fat (which you will lift or exercise at a deficit and build little muscle as a newbie and will allow you maintain current mass while loosing) or build muscle (which you will eat a surplus)?
There are a lot things to consider before and when you start.. The best thing I can say is to do a lot of research, learn all the exercises and learn form (very very important), evaluate your starting point and fitness level and make a plan, and then choose a program.0
