Hurt Quads... need help

I am new to working out. I joined a gym and started to cut down on what I am eatting. I thought I could do no wrong. However I did to many squats and lunges during a workout and injured both my quads. Enough that it hurts to walk. So I am taking the rest of June off from cardio.

I dont want to lose momentum. Does anyone know some excirces that I can do that wont hurt me more.

Thanks for your help.

Ok quick question(s)? Are you HURT or are you INJURED? Have you seen a doctor to confirm/diagnose your injury?

If you are injured do as your doctor advises.

If you are hurt stretching, ibuprofen, warm baths, and keep moving!!! (my official response to "hurt" is rub some dirt on it and push through!)

I agree with the above. I am always very sore after doing legs for a few days after. It would be pretty intense if you really medically hurt your legs.

Anyways, it is just your quads that hurt, right? So, do other workouts on different parts of your body - abs, arms, chest, back, etc. That is why you have a different target on each day of the week. You can rotate through the exercises, target different body areas and give your resting ones time to heal

I have not seen a doctor. I hurt it about a going on two weeks. I did not do anything for a couple of days and tried to do steps again. It hurts more now then it did before.

I was hoping it was just sore. However since the pain contunues while my other soreness from working out is gone. I think I really hurt it.

Try boxing - it's an upper body workout, also you can just lift upper body.

I'd also suggest yoga or pilates as well as stretching every day to help with the soreness. Of course, I'm not a doctor and if you are injured rather than overly sore, you may want to seek a doctor's advice.

You should see a doctor and be sure that you didn't do anything to it that could make matters worse!

See a doctor. I would suggest one involved in the Sports field if you can. Without KNOWING what is wrong anything anyone may suggest on here runs the risk of making the matter worse. Simply because your quads hurt does not indicate the injury is in your quads. It could be your lower back, hips, knees, ankles, etc. Where pain presents does not always indicate where the injury is.

See a Dr if possible just to make sure you aren't injured. No point of pushing through if you pulled something.

That said, I'm going to share my recent experience with quad pain..I hope you don't mind. On Tuesday I did a couple sets of leg presses at a high weight (for me) and then opted to do squats while waiting for the next machine. (Not. The. Best. Plan!) First set was fine but half way through the second set it suddenly felt like my quad muscles completely seized up. Mid squat! Ouch! I tried stretching right after but nothing eased it. I was in pain that night, all day yesterday, and they just about killed me to go up & down the stairs this morning. Needless to say, I didn't really feel like doing my big workout today. Not wanting to take another rest day, I opted to hop on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes to see how it felt. I'm so glad that I did! It seems like it worked out the last of the kinks and I'm pain free now! :D

That was my experience. I'm not saying that it will work for you but it might be worth a try. Just pick something low impact, start off easy and be sure to do a very thorough cool down. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!
