60 lbs down but getting more difficult

Back in late December I made the choice of starting a new path in becoming a new person. That I wouldn't continue down the path of eating crap and not caring for myself and my future. Five months later and 60 lbs gone I'm 16 lbs from my goal. My only issue now is that its getting more and more difficult to lose a couple of pounds every week. Gym time has been increased calories have been lessened and sometime I lose maybe a pound a week or nothing at all. Any suggestions from anyone out there on what I need to do to continue to loss and to achieve my goal?
Thanks,
Fernando

Sounds like you need to recalculate your TDEE and calorie deficit. You probably won't be losing as much each week as you were the first 60 pounds. 1.5-2 pounds/wk is hard to maintain when you are near your healthy weight without losing a lot of lean muscle mass.0

Well my first suggestion is to change your weekly weight loss goal to 1/2lb.
2nd since your diary is closed...questions...do you use a food scale? log everything consistently? are you eating back exercise calories back? and if yes how many?
But all that being said...weight loss in not linear...there will be weeks you don't lose and weeks you do...esp near the end....and sometimes there is a whoosh where you lose a bunch of weight all at once...just keep plugging away if you are sure you are logging correctly and in a reasonable deficit.0 -
To begin with congratulations! Great job so far. It sounds like you've gone with a high deficit, something that is hard for many of us to sustain, so kudos to you for sticking with it.
Are you currently still classified as obesse? Overweight? Or are you closer to the top end of the "normal" weight range?
The less available "free" fat you have, the higher the concurrent loss of lean mass if you pursue an aggressive deficit. You may want to consider slowing to a lb a week, or somewhere between 0.8% and 0.5% of bodyweight per week as you approach a "normal" weight.
Sure, it may take a bit longer to get there with a smaller deficit; but think of it as your opportunity to start eating and exercising close to the manner you are planing to continue doing over the next few years in order to maintain.0 -
A pound a week is nothing to complain about. Just because it is "safe" to lose two pounds per week doesn't mean you actually have to lose that much every week. I'm down to the last few pounds myself and I've been averaging 1.5 pounds per week or so.0
