Confused about "bulking"

So I lost like 10lbs in a month or so a few weeks ago and have pretty much been the same weight since then.(due to vacation) there's still some weight I want to come off but , in the whole process I lost my big bubble butt , not completely but it looks noticeably different . I want to build it back up but that means gaining weight?, so what's the point of losing weight. If I stick to a surplus and high protein intake plus heavy lifting (squats ,hip thrust etc.) will that shape my butt. Am I just gonna gain weight all over and be the size I was :( confused.

The point isn't to lose weight. The point is to lose excess fat.

that paragraph was pretty confusing too

you will gain weight, muscle, and fat when you bulk. the amount of fat gained depends on how good your diet is, but it will not be 0.

once you decide to cut, your goal will be to lose weight while preserving as much muscle as possible. again, the amount of muscle lost will depend on your diet (and training), but will not be 0.

so you go through a bulk and then a cut, with the goal of having more muscle after that cut than before you started that bulk. rinse, repeat.

body recomp is another topic and someone else can chime in on that. it seems to become less viable the stronger/leaner you are.

Have you been doing squats and hip thrusts throughout the weight loss? If not just add them (along with glute bridges, SLDL, etc) and see if that helps before jumping into a bulk when you still have weight to lose. My booty deflated for a couple weeks recently and I was not thrilled. But I had not been doing hip thrusts and added them to my routine again. It has perked up again and but just a bit smaller. If you decide to bulk later you can always focus on building mass back there.
