Cravings?

Hey guys, so I've re-started eating healthy & I've more or less cut out sugar from my diet. The problem is every once in a while, I get these salt cravings, like *really* bad cravings. My house is essentially full of fruits, so I never have sugar cravings. But I've eaten just *straight* salt before.

My other problem is I tend to binge-eat, so I don't keep costco-sized popcorn bags etc. Do you guys have any advice?

First, don't cut out ANYTHING you like completely, because it doesn't matter how great it works for you now, sooner or later it's going to backfire. Try to fit everything in your daily calories goal, and as long as you maintain a calorie deficit you will lose weight. But if you still have a craving for something specific after you've eaten all your meals for the day then I say you try and take your mind off of it and think about something else, go for a walk, watch a movie, talk on the phone....etc sometimes I even eat something else, like if I want to eat some french fries, I go and eat an apple or a big bowl of salad then drink loads of water that it becomes hard to breathe anymore, let alone think about the french fries. I know, it's not a solution, but it works and over-eating something healthy and low in calories is better than going on a french fries binge. But if that didn't work for you either, then you give yourself permission. Eating something you crave every once in a while wouldn't bring the end of the world. Give yourself permission so that you don't feel guilty after indulging and then move on. Remember, moderation not deprivation. Deprivation WILL lead to over-eating and binge-eating but if you allowed yourself to eat EVERYTHING in moderation and according to plan, you won't have this urges to binge anymore.

TOTALLY agree with the above post! I try to divert my attention to something else, and if I still can't get it off my mind, then I have it - in moderation. I like to buy 100-calories bags of snacks; it keeps me from over-indulging. Mini bags of microwave popcorn, cheese crackers, nuts, etc....my newest obsession is raw veggies with tzatziki sauce...
