I'm 29 getting married In October and also have my 30th birthday in December. I'm finding it very hard to get my motivation back to work out and watch what I eat... I start off good for about a month then bang! It all goes wrong and can't get out of this rut.. All my friends are on the health wagon and I know myself I need to loss weight for me. My other half lives me for how I am so maybe that's why the motivation has gone. I started playing rugb which I love but recently I have been losing the motivation for that as well. Feeling MEH! Any advise?

Well I can tell u once u hit 30 it's all downhill from there lol so with that being said....stop giving up! It only hurts yourself and just think of the results of u kept going. The older you get the harder it is. I looked really great when I turned 30 but then I got pregnant and gained a ton of weight. Now I'm back in the game, slowly losing the weight but I'm not giving up. You just have to decide that u want this and DO IT! Only you have the power to change you so what are you waiting for?! Force yourself to get it done and I promise you won't regret it. The only regret is giving up. If u need the extra motivation I log daily. Feel free to add me and good luck with your journey. I think of this saying all the time, maybe it will help. Woman to woman......

The only part of @inked_Calimom82's post I disagree with is that everything goes downhill after 30. No, it doesn't! I'm 43 and I'm in the best shape of my life. Age is not an excuse. It's not even a factor.
Good motivational post otherwise. OP, how long have you had the "meh" feeling? We all have those at times. Generally, that means it is time to change things up. Keep playing rugby since you say you enjoy it. Change your other activities and foods you eat. Sometimes a blah feeling can be remedied by making changes. Good luck!0 -
Hey I felt the same before I got married 2.5 years ago, and I turned 30 last Christmas so we're similar in age. I can only say you probably want to feel absolutely amazing on your wedding day. With hindsight I played my wedding down as I felt a bit frumpy. I didn't get off my butt to lose weight until after my honeymoon and the irony is that I look and feel waaay better now - just wish I'd done it sooner! You don't want to have those little silly regrets, they're such a waste of precious time! Try to visualize how you'll feel if you work hard now and look and feel your best in October. Then when it comes to your 30th I'd highly recommend having champagne with breakfast, lunch and dinner0

Thank you every one x0

Count me as another voice for the "it really doesn't all go downhill after 30" camp. Although I do agree that losing weight gets harder as you get older. Thus, I frequently wish that I had lost the weight at a younger age. However, for whatever reason I wasn't ready/ didn't want to until now. Now, at age 61 I am in better shape than I was at 35 and it feels great. I strongly urge you to give yourself the gift of good health earlier in the game rather than later. Don't give up.
After 15 months of working at exercise and eating well I am finding my motivation flagging once again which is why I decided to see what advice you have gotten. Changing things up has helped me in the exercise motivation department. I have added classes for things I have not tried before. I dropped the ones that bored me. Finding physical activity that is fun keeps me going back for more. I also try to occasionally look back and make note of the things I can do now that I could not do when I first started or the things I do better now than 3 months ago. I like seeing/acknowledging improvements.
Eating well is where I am having difficulties right now. I have reviewed how I was eating when I first started losing weight. I am trying to return to those newer behaviors (especially logging my food) as I am noticing that I am slipping back into old habits. I like how I feel when I eat more thoughtfully. I want fruit instead of a cookie to become my habit moving forward. I just know I have to force it until it becomes habit.
Revisit why you wanted to do this in the first place. Are children in your future and you want to be a certain kind of mother? Does your job demand a better level of physical and mental alertness? How is your health? Want to get off of medications? Want to avoid needing medications? Do you have the stamina to do all that you want? You don't have to answer these questions here. I'm asking to give you a few things to ponder and determine what your personal reasons are for wanting to make changes.
18 months ago I went to one of the Disney World parks with a friend. I needed a seat belt extender for the fight. I could not walk all day so I had to rent an electric cart to get around. I did not fit into all of the rides. It was discouraging. This coming September I am meeting the same friend to spend a day at Universal Studios. I will not need a cart to get around. I can walk for the full day. I know I will fit into all of the rides. I didn't need a seatbelt extender when I flew last November and I've lost more since then so I know the flight will be a different experience. That trip is my main focus right now, but once I've done that I have new goals to reach for after that. I'm not giving up.0 -
Thank you miakoda.. Wise words and well done to you for reaching your goal!0

@miakoda40 congrats on your success! That is great! And you are absolutely right: once you reach a goal, set new ones. Repeat, repeat, repeat. You never know what you are capable of until you try it.0

Lol It was more of a joke. People are always saying that expression!0
