I done a body test on bodybuilding.com it comes out I am 75% endomorph, 25% mesomorph.
The details of this says that I am sensitive to sugary/starchy carbs and should avoid... looking at my food diary I consume a lot of these types of carbs.
Did figuring out your body type help with your goals?

Do you believe the categories?
If so, endomorphs what worked best for you?

Somatotypes are a myth. I thought I was an endomorph, but the reality is that I ate more than I should have and I moved less than I should have.

What worked best for me was to stop being lazy and to start tracking my food accurately.

    Depends...are you a Scorpio or a Aquarius?

I concur. For years I went by the mindset that I was an ectomorph. No matter what I did I couldn't add mass. Then I found the awsome people around here, followed their guidance, and started measuring. Turns out I simply wasn't eating enough. Downside? I figured it out too well and now spend time learning how to properly cut. Endless battle, but continuing to learn and adapt is the only way to success.

I could never figure out mine with all the fat covering my body and no prior history of training. Just eat at a deficit, no body type, blood type, or skin color is going to effect your loss. Eat at a deficit ftw

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotype_and_constitutional_psychology

Constitutional psychology is a now discredited theory, developed in the 1940s by American psychologist William Herbert Sheldon, associating body types with human temperament types..... Sheldon and Earnest Hooton were seen as leaders of a school of thought, popular in anthropology at the time, which held that the size and shape of a person's body indicated intelligence, moral worth and future achievement.

I wholly believed I was an endomorph because I have wider hips and seem to gain muscle faster than I lose fat. So, I cut out weights and stuck with aerobic exercise. That didn't work very well, but I did have some success. What really worked was a calorie deficit and a mix of exercises that included both aerobic and weight lifting (because I enjoyed it and it made me feel good).

So - no, even if the "types" were real, I don't think developing a plan around it really does anything to help. But then again, almost any sort of plan was better than nothing.

Ceriann, I am not an expert, but I also feel that I fit the endomorph category. The only Weight loss program that has ever worked for me is a strict Atkins, protein diet and serious cardio daily for an hour. Ive lost 85 pounds doing this and I'm almost 60 years old. It works if you work it! But be safe about it and follow the plan. Good luck!

Soma types are great tools for people who need to use something as reasoning as to why they can't lose or gain weight.

    And we have a winner!
