Exercise & Calorie Counting

Last summer I carefully watched what I ate and used the MFP to calculate what I had burned extra and ate more accordingly. I don't feel like it went well. I looked back at my year and just saw it kind of plateau. This summer I think I'm going to map how much/how I exercise, but not use it to calculate how I should eat. I'll just eat more if I feel like I need to.
The fall through spring, I stopped gauging exercise because I was walking/standing all of the time with school and work... I didn't have time for mapping exercise, but I was losing.
I'd like to start losing more/faster I haven't lost an incredible amount like some people in a short time. Does anyone have any opinions or advice?
