Is it okay to eat more fat and fewer carbs on a Paleo diet?

I recently started Paleo, and my fat percentage is way up. My carbs are way down. If my calories are still below my goal, will a higher fat, low carb diet be okay?

One has nothing to do with the other. You can be paleo, and you can be lc, or one or the other, or neither. As long as you're at a deficit, getting enough protein, and not at too big a deficit to eat the basic micronutrients you need to survive, you'll be fine.0

Paleolithic reconstructions show the Paleolithic diet was a majority of carbs...
If you're doing the fad diet known as the paleo diet it doesn't matter much as-1 -
High fat / Low carb works well for some people. Enjoy.0

People who eat Paleo tend to eat more fat, and fewer carbs. Higher fat is not necessarily bad for you. Just make sure that you are getting adequate protein, and enough carbs to maintain optimal hormone levels (my understanding is that if you cut carbs too much (i.e. staying below 50 grams for 3 or 4 days) it negatively impacts leptin levels, which can slow down your fat burning process. If you are working out, I also don't recommend going below 100 carbs at day. Check out "Performance Paleo" and the "Paleo Athlete" by Steph Gaudreau. Lots of helpful info in her books.0

You can choose lower saturate fats, and no processed meats on Paleo.
I eat most of my carbs thru vegetables and enjoy lots of fish, chicken, and lean beef
Most diets have extremists. I am not one to live on bacon. For me that would be extreme.
I think Paleo gets a bad rap at times. Just not eating pasta, grains, and sugar is the spin on it I take.
It has been possible to live on it for 18 months and drop 115 lbs.
The good thing about the variety of vegetables is the variety of macronutrients available.
I also eat two squares of 85% cocoa dark chocolate a day. That probably isn't pure Paleo, but it is so good for you.
As mentioned above, I do get 60-80 carbs daily and feel fine with it. The interesting thing is how long term weight loss and Paleo ish diet reduced cholesterol, blood pressure, and resting heart rate.
The resting heart rate was more due to HIIT training I am told but it all was part of the long term living strategy.
It did require learning how to cook many more types of veggies.
