Fitbit and MFP questions.

Hello all! This is my first time using the forums, and my first time really wanting to get into fitness. I've never used a fitbit before, but got a Fitbit Flex for free from work.

Now, my question is about syncing. I've got it to sync fine, but on my diary all it listed were my steps. Now, I went online and checked off the negative calorie adjustments. I'm finding that, even though I exercise, it's still subtracting calories from my overall cal goal. I'm just a tad bit confused. Isn't exercising supposed to add calories?

My sister uses a Fitbit Charge, and her diary is constantly showing adjustments of more calories. (IE: 300 as opposed to my -300) If someone could clear this up for me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Negative calorie adjustments mean you're burning fewer calories than your MFP activity level. Click on any adjustment to see the math MFP used to calculate it.

Sounds like your activity level is set to high on MFP.

Here are some visuals about Fitbit Adjustments:

    • If your Fitbit burn goes past the red line, you get a positive adjustment.
    • If your Fitbit burn is under the blue line, you get 0 or a negative adjustment (when negative adjustments are enabled)
    • If your Fitbit burn meets the blue line, you get 0 adjustment. This means your Fitbit calorie burn matches up perfectly with the estimated burn from your MFP activity level. Side Note: Without negative adjustments enabled or checking the math behind your adjustment, you won't really know if this is the case.
