Breastfeeding & low-carb: how low did you go?

Too all those mothers who have done extended breastfeeding: what was the lowest carb intake that didn't affect your supply? My 23 month old still nurses 3-4 times a day, obviously not so much for the nutritional value but it's a great way to reconnect after daycare. I would like to lose 10% of my body weight, and decided to try a low carb (25-30 g per day) diet. I was always a big fan of a more balanced diet with more carbs, but the high fat content seems to really suppress my appetite, so I would like to stick with it short term (1-2 months). Any personal insight would be greatly appreciated!

I've never done low carb. I'm currently logging everything and I've not gone low fat, just eat less in general and exercise more. I'm not currently breastfeeding and didn't diet while doing so with my boys (both to around 18 months) but was exercising, not drinking and at my slimmest as an adult. What I'm trying to say is just that you don't have to cut carbs to keep fat in your diet. Up to you though.0

Be careful! I tried going keto (less than 50 get carbs per day) and ended up in the hospital with ketoacidosis. They said it was from eating keto while breastfeeding. Your body has a higher need for glucose when you're producing milk0

That is not true - the "toxins" get eliminated through your bowels and kidneys like everything else. Any diet is fine - your body will pull what it needs for your breastmilk but try and eat a variety of foods and don't go too low carb - choose good carbs.0
