MFP has me set at 1260 calories per day. I have over 100 lbs to lose and I know that is way too low. I have my goal set to 2lbs a week and sedentary because I am not working out yet. I am headed to planet fitness tomorrow to sign up. I need to at least 1350 calories or so not to feel so hungry but I hate seeing the red. Changing my activity level to lightly active puts me at 1500. I'm thinking about just changing it so I have more room and it doesn't look like I'm in the negative. It bugs me! lol

So change it. You're clearly not eating enough if you're feeling that hungry. You have a good bit of weight to lose, so you have more calories to play with to still be in a deficit. Also, I doubt you're truly sedentary. Do you move around at all? What do you do for a living?

I would definitely up it to lightly active.

You could just set your goal to 1lb a week so you aren't messing with how the tool is designed to work.

Is your activity level accurate? It doesn't require "exercise"; it just means your basic day (job, housework, walking, etc.). If not, definitely change it to reflect your real activity level. Just remember not to log anything that you are using to set activity level (because it's already added into your calorie target.)

If you do meet the definition of sedentary, I would say change your goal to 1lb or 1.5 to increase your calorie allowance. Every 1/2lb per week decrease will give you 250 more calories per day.

I know the net result is the same, but always better to have accurate inputs, IMO.

Another vote for changing the weight loss goal rather than messing with activity level just to get a certain result.
