Any Fat Smashers out there?

When I was in college, I was addicted to VH1's celebrity weight loss show. It was like The Biggest Loser with the biggest losers of Hollywood! Besides being snarky at my TV to people who could neither hear me nor care about what I said, I also enjoyed the actual process...it seemed like it was working. So I thought to myself, "Self, if these losers can do it, then so can you!"

Because, you see, I had gained probably in the area of 40-50lbs during my first three years in school.

So I bought the book by the show's nutritionist, Dr. Ian K. Smith, titled The Fat Smash Diet." A friend and I started together, made meals together, and went to the gym together, and by the end of two semesters, I had lost about 25lbs. So I did it again, and again. I lost 35-40lbs in about a year and a half, then I was able to maintain for another year and a half. I was able to lose another 15-20 with a personal trainer when I started my first big girl job, then I bought the "Extreme Fat Smash" when the pounds crept back on.

I followed the Extreme to lose 22lbs (January 1 through mid-May) before my wedding last year. I've gained about ten of that back and now I'm really looking to finally, FINALLY lose the last 20 and get to my goal weight.

Since the regular Fat Smash worked so well for me before, I'm back at it again! This time, I have my husband to join me and lend support, but I was wondering if any MFPal-ers had done the Fat Smash before, if they're on it now, or if they'd be interested in joining me on this go-round?

Share with me your struggles, your successes, and your questions, and wish me luck!

Addendum:

With all the fluctuations, I am at a total loss of 56lbs. My largest was 226, with my pre-wedding low of 162.5 seven years later. I am now (as of this morning) at 170.5lbs. My goal is to be in the mid- to low-150s by our Thanksgiving trip to Vegas.

In all honesty, if you keep gaining back the weight that you lost on this program, why do you keep going back to it?

you might have more long term success with using MFP to log in all your calories...just my .02

That diet is actually how I ended up on MFP. I followed it for all of 2.5 days but was logging the food here. It was less than 1200 calories and I realized how stupid it was to eat what he told me to eat when he told me to eat it when i could just eat 1200 (or more) of whatever I wanted to eat. I ended up losing 30 pounds.

The problem is that after I hit my goal and enter maintenance, I slowly creep back into old habits. One glass of wine 2-3 times a week becomes two glasses, or 4-5 times a week. No carbs after 4pm becomes 5, 6, 7pm, big pasta dinners. Lean protein at every meal becomes every other meal, becomes once a day, etc.

The program works. It was hugely successful for me. I'm going to have another go at it more mindfully as an adult changing her lifestyle instead of as a college student changing her waistline.

hmm interesting with the wine slowly increasing. That no carb after whatever time does not matter at all unless you have some medical issue.

Were you doing the regular or the Extreme? The Extreme is crazy restrictive, but I liked that each meal was laid out specifically. The regular is way more loose with what you can have and how much, so I'm trying that one again.

Yeah, wine is my trigger. And I have learned that I can eat my pasta in moderation, but my problem is that I slowly stop moderating myself. When I realize that 10lbs have crept back, it's back to the program.
