What exactly IS a Deficit

This is going to sound an incredibly noob-like question but honestly, I just feel confused about the whole business! I go to the gym most days and do cardio and lifting heavy but I am trying to lose fat so I maintain a calorie deficit ~ 500 a day. The only thing is, I don't feel hungry or tired or anything I used to experience and I find myself eating 1900-2000 while eating back around 50% of exercise calories. Is the deficit created by calories burnt through BMR and exercise - calories eaten? Or is it a matter of BMR - calories eaten with exercise as an added bonus. Would the decifit work in the same way? Thanks for any help.

calorie deficit is the number of calories below your maintenance calories you would eat to lose weight.
There is more in the calories out side of the CI<CO than BMR.0 -

so you are netting 2000 calories a day....so MFP gives you 2500 you burn 500 and net 2000?
The deficit is built into the number that MFP gives you. So if you enter stats into MFP and it says eat 2000 calories a day to lose a pound per week, then 2000 already has your 500 calorie deficit built into it; hence, you need to net 2000 calories consumed, which is why you eat back a portion of exercise calories.
Is that your question?0 -
Nope, I am eating 2000 calories and netting ~ 1600! But I think I have my answer now
thanks all!
