Weight Loss won't start! Feeling frustrated!

So I've been dieting for a month nearly and I've lost the grand total of 0lb and 0 inches.
I found out I was overweight when I went to the drs over something completely different (turns out I have adult asthma) and during a routine weight check I came in 3lb overweight.
So I went on a health kick. I always was slim but life happens and changes and the weight came on.
I don't know where I am going wrong. I've eating three meals a day, a lot lighter lunch than I used to have (I've gone from crisps, sandwich and a latte to a salad and water) and a smaller, healthier night time meal. I'm already a vegeterian so my meals were never terribly unhealthy. I haven't cut out my snacks, but instead of 2 packets of crisps a day I'm have two a week.
I've been going the gym 3 times a week, getting off the bus three stops before I need to each way on work days.
The only other two things that are different are a) I've been in the pill for 9 months but from what I've read there's nothing to say this halts weight lose and b)one of my blood tests came back and my kidney function was 3 points (or numbers or mg or something) less than it should be, so they've retested again to see what's causing that.
I really don't know what else I can do or change. Any suggestions or help please, it's getting me down.
Thanks :-)

It sounds like you need to eat fewer calories.0

Opening your diary might help to get you more specific advice if you're comfortable doing so.
3 pounds overweight means you really don't have a lot to lose (compared to some) so your weight loss may be slower than you want. One pound or even half a pound a week would be a good goal for you.
Are you logging everything you eat? Including condiments, cooking oils, veggies, cheat days, etc? Are you using a food scale, measuring cups, or eyeballing your portion sizes? Most people can be off in their estimates by several hundred calories when they eyeball portions. Measuring cups are better, but a food scale is going to be the most accurate.

And make sure that you've calculated your calorie goals appropriately. Remember that these are just estimates. You may need to play around a little to find what works best for you.

If you're exercising and eating back your earned exercise calories, be sure that you're using accurate estimates of your burn. MFP and gym machines have a tendency to overestimate certain activities, which can cause you to eat back more calories than you need to. Even a heart rate monitor isn't 100% accurate. If you're eating those extra earned calories it might be a good idea to eat only 50-75% of those.
And there's something to be said for the fact that some people just burn fewer calories than the generic equations predict. If that's the case for you, you may need to adjust your calories a little lower until you start losing again.0 -
