Started working out 3 months ago. I have gained between 5-8 lbs which frustrates me, however, my measurements are the same.

Can anyone help me to figure out why my measurements are exactly the same as 3 months ago, even though my weight is up? I measured my arms, legs, chest, waist, hips, and legs.

Well there is the possibility that you are eating back your exercise calories and replacing fat with muscle. Calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight. If you are eating what you ate before plus adding your exercise calories you will gain muscle. It sounds like you found a weird balance point where you are eating enough to gain muscle by stealing fat stores.

I have worked out 4-5 days a week and stayed the exact same weight for 6 months and have not lost an inch but I have defined muscle everywhere and I can lift heavier weights. I did this on purpose by consuming back the majority of my exercise calories in protein but it sounds like your goals are different.

Thank you so much for your response.
Yes, I have been eating pretty much the same. I changed that a few days ago. I feel better knowing it's muscle, even if I'm not seeing a whole lot of definition yet...at least I know I'm going forward and not backwards.
I'll try a calorie deficit this month. Thanks again!
