Hi everyone,

I'm going to a free cocktail party tonight with delicious canapés and open bar. I plan to eat my calories before I go and have a simple "no canapés at all" policy at the party. I'll sip on water and maybe a sinful Diet Coke.

Any social butterflies out there with tips on how to stick to your diet while at swanky parties?

I need some encouragement!

    Yep. Leave space in your intake and exercise so you can enjoy every canapé that a waiter wafts past you with. Drink lots and enjoy yourself. Far better than whimpering in the corner with a soda water.

    Swanky cocktail parties are the best! I'm a poor college grad, so they don't come by too often. When they do, I go all out (and try not to fall of my heels!)

    I would consider this kind of event a cheat day and not worry about the calories.

    Filling up on cals before the party is a bad choice, if you're trying to stay near target. You will drink and eat. Get your daily protein, get some exercise, and have fun.

    Haha, looks like a unanimous decision for me to kick up my heels tonight!

    Maybe I'll get a quick Ripped in 30 session before I go, and hit up some cardio tomorrow when I get up.
