Hi, I'm five foot 7 and 107 pounds, I'd like to get to 118 pounds and I'm trying to eat at least 1800 calories a day but failing due to avoiding carbs.
I have poly-cystic ovary syndrome and I'm scared if I eat too many carbs it will make me have more symptoms (pain, bad skin)
I wondered if anybody had any advice or simply some insight? Thankyou,

Eat more fat?
I don't know much about pcos, but think there may be certain carbs you could tolerate? Do you know what these are? If not.... Can you experiment to find what does work and stick with those?0 -

I eat about 60-70 grams of fat a day, I'm not sure if going over this could cause health problems? I get a bit hypercondriac about food and health.

No, no it won't. Make sure you get a variety of different fat from various sources...

epic first post….
you know this how?0 -
OP is underweight according to BMI. If she feels she needs to gain then fair enough. OP you should probably discuss with a doctor or dietician as to how you can get your macro & micronutrients in a healthy way that won't make you uncomfortable or in pain. This site is probably not a great place to ask for this kind of specific advice.0

It shouldn't cause problems - just avoid trans fats (anything hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated), and cheap seed and "vegetable" oils (they tend to be rancid and/or have a low smoke point so they go rancid easily); stick with good quality fats - expeller pressed oils (coconut, palm, olive), animal fat (egg yolks, poultry skin, fattier cuts of beef and pork, oily fish, etc), fat from whole dairy (if you tolerate dairy), etc. I eat about 100g of fat most days - my cholesterol is normal and the ratios are great (high HDL, low triglycerides) and my blood pressure is fantastic (100/60). The lipid hypothesis of heart disease was beheaded a while back, unfortunately it is still walking around, lol. Don't fear good quality fat.

Thanks for this, some good advice. I'll pay less caution to over doing the healthy fats now.0
