Hi All - I've been on the site for a while now, have lost a few pounds, but thought maybe it's time to introduce myself! I have a few friends who've had great success with myfitnesspal, and if they can do it, so can I!
My name is Sonia, I'm a 42 year old mom of 3 kids, ages 10, 8, and almost 6. When my ex and I split over 3 years ago, I dropped 20 lbs very fast in the worst possible way - too much stress and coffee, not enough sleep. I lost another 15 through watching what I ate and mild exercise. Now that I'm back out in the dating world, I want to look my very best. I have another 15lbs to go to get to where I was before I had my children. I'm also exercising a bit more regularly and have just signed up to run my first 5k. I'm feeling better than I have in years, and know that with a little motivation and support, I can reach my goal.
I'd love to hear from other women in the same position. How to you stay motivated? How do you find the time to plan healthy meals, get to the gym, AND take care of the kids (not to mention job, housework, etc). Looking forward to hearing from you!

I recently became a single mom and I am motivated by the changes I've already seen (I am pretty much maintaining now) and my workouts are such a great stress reliever. I've never been a runner and now that's all I want to do. I love being outside and I can take my 2 year old in the stroller. I'm not ready for another relationship yet but I know I will be dating eventually and I do want to look good, so that's extra motivation too.
I think it can get overwhelming when you stop and think of everything that is on your plate as a single parent, so I just try to not think about it all and just do. And really, things haven't changed too much around here because my husband was not much of a help in the first place. Good luck to you!0
