Sorry dumb question (pedometer )

Have fitness level set to lightly active and I aim for 10000 steps a day. I also have a pt session once a week, plus play tennis a couple of times a week. Both the latter I log as exercise. Should I remove the pedometer at those times as I don't want to double log exercise. ( I'm usually well over step count on those days). Thanks!

Well if you don't want to double log then remove it before logged activity. But if you want to knowwhat your steps are during keep it on and dont log those steps.0

Where can I 'find' a "good" pedometer?0
-
Thanks. The steps don't really matter as I'm hitting goals anyway most time and the extra activity takes me well over. I was just worried about the occasional day when I am slightly under on steps.
I'm in UK and mine came from Boots (Tanita and was a little more than I wanted to pay at time. However I did have a couple of cheap ones off ebay before, but one didn't work at all and the second seemed to log steps for the slightest movement.) Will probably upgrade to an activity monitor in future but its having the cash available.0 -
Thanks. Right now I have 2 'cheapies' and I hate them; used to have one from Weight Watchers and can't put my hands on it now. WW is never open when I go to town. I don't know how one would find them now that they have moved. No sign, no nothing and the old sign is still at their old location.0

That's the problem when you find one you like. I had one I loved several years back but when I sorted it out it had stopped working. Needless to say they don't make that model anymore.0

I am not sure what you mean by double logging the exercise. The pedometer is only counting steps. Unless you are counting your steps as exercise?
I wear my fitbit 24/7. I basically use it for my steps and my sleep and that's all. I log my exercise when I exercise and I don't remove my fitbit when I do exercise. Steps and exercise are two separate things to me.0 -
I'm not logging steps as exercise, but have activity level at lightly active. I use the pedometer mainly to keep check I'm moving, rather than put fitness level to sedentary and then log all activity. Most days I do hit around the 10000 mark through work, pottering about the garden and house walking to the shops etc. However before I started watching my activity I had occasional days where i was probably doing half the amount of steps.0

If you have an activity tracker like Fitbit synced with MFP, leave it on. There's never any double dipping of calories. Exercise syncs both ways, so whatever you log in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time. (That's why MFP asks you for the start & end times of your workout.)

I've been using the Runtastic pedometer app. It works well on android0

Right thank you. Will be looking for something a little bit more advanced in few weeks. The basic pedometer is ok for getting me moving if I have a slack day. Will have a look at runtastic too. Thank you0
