New and Rearing to go! But for one thing...

So, until recently as far as eating and working out goes, I've just occasionally tossed in a DVD or gone out to run, and pretty much ate whatever I wanted - obviously, I would try to eat slightly less, but still whatever I wanted. However, I have 30 lbs to lose until I hit my goal, and I figure trying to track my food and stay inside of a certain zone would be good for me.
On every other calorie tracking site I've gone to, it wants me to eat 1600-2000 calories per day, since as a moderately active woman weighing 180 pounds, in order to maintain my weight 2200 sounds about right per day. MFP wants me to eat 1390 per day.
That feels a bit low to me. What I'm thinking is that I'll try it for a few weeks (or however long my discipline holds up) before I start playing around with it and adjusting it, but I'm scared that I'll end up having a lot of times where I'm just HUNGRY, or start to feel weak.
One way I know that I can make this easier is by eating a lot more vegetables - they're something that's missing a lot from my regular diet, and they're usually something that takes up a lot of space for only a very small number of calories, so that should help a lot. But I'm still worried.
Anyways, Hi! My name's Emma, I just turned 20 years old. I currently weigh 180 lbs and wear a size 12 (sometimes 10) dress/pant size. I'm considering enlisting in the military (gotta be below 150 lbs!) and I want my sizes to get down into the single digits. I'm not very active on these websites, but I'll try to get on more often
