Interesting article (mild-to-moderate food porn factor):

"The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has compiled its annual list of restaurant meals (dubbed the Xtreme Eating Awards) that contain about 2,000 calories or more, which is close to or at the recommended daily allowance for most teenagers and adults. Find out the meals to avoid at these popular restaurants. In December, the rules required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which mandate that calories be listed on chain-restaurant menus, go into effect."

Most of those are a lot of food. I could just eat it all throughout the day and maintain fine.

It's all about moderation. It's good to know what the calories are in these meals, but you don't have to eat or drink it all. Most of the time I only eat half of what is served and share dessert with my wife and daughters. Yesterday we shared a slice of tres leches cake and brought half of it home.

That one meal from the bbq place is just ridiculous. 32 oz of sweet tea plus ice cream? It seemed like for some of these they paired the highest calorie things they could to make a ginormous meal. Who would seriously eat baked ziti and a pizza in one sitting? And the thing from IHOP - well, I can't imagine eating that ginormous omelette PLUS 3 pancakes with syrup.

I'm sure some people would eat this stuff, but I venture to say most people are not that gluttonous. And are we sure that Red Lobster thing wasn't meant for 2 people?

This is how I felt about it too. I mean I'm sure some people would order/eat that much...but still. I can't imagine ordering a pizza and baked ziti. Even if I didn't understand calories so well when I was fat, it just wouldn't happen.
