No progress

I was wondering if anyone takes supplements for metabolism? If so what kind? I've been cutting calories and drinking nothing but water I exercise 3-4 times a week and barley have any progress. It's frustrating. Has anyone taken supplements to help with weight loss?

Why not just eat less?0
-
Because then I'd be eating nothing. Thanks for your advice.0
-
Why not exercise more, then?
Supplements aren't going to do what you hope they are.0 -
How much is "barely" any progress? Are you weighing your food?
What number of calories did MFP give you? What did you set as your activity level and desired weight loss? How tall are you?

Explain "barely any progress"?
What are your stats? Are you accurately weighing and logging your food?0 -
What do you consider "barely" any progress?
Are you weighing your food on a food scale?
How much are you eating?
When did you start exercising?
How long have you been doing this?
How much are you looking to lose?0 -
You haven't cut enough calories.0

My weight just goes up and down a few pounds. No consistency. I lift weights and then run a mile. I know I haven't been gaining much muscles. I've been counting calories. I work a lot and take college classes so it really hard to do much more then I've been doing. It's just frustrating0

I've been working out for about two months now.0

I'll repeat:
- Are you weighing your food on a food scale and logging accurately?
- How much have you lost since you started?
- How much are you trying to lose?
- How long have you been counting calories?

It seems like 70% of the OPs on these boards make 1 post, then fall off the face of the earth, the other 25% reply a few times, and jump off the edge too. There must be some kind of committee going around kidnapping these newbies or something.
5% actually continue to post, just to help the maths work, by the way.

I went to a local weight loss center for about 6 months and the doctor prescribed a drug called adipex. It worked really well and I lost about 50 pounds and was never hungry! After reaching goal weight I quit taking it and my metabolism seemed to have quit working and I craved food soooo bad after coming off medicine. So to answer your question yes I have but I would not recommend it. I put most of my weight back on within 2 months. If your looking to raise metabolism I would do some research on food cleanses or different style exercises. Hope this helps and good luck on reaching your goals. I never see the progress I want to see either but just try to eat healthy and exercise with intensity and you will get there.

I following serving sizes according to quantity of what I'm eating but I do not have a food scale. I've been counting calories for a few months now but last month is when I recently had the time to have consist work outs. My weight will just go up and down around 5 pounds a month. I'm going to do research on more clean eating and foods that boast metabolism. If no progress in a month I'll probably make a doctors appointment.0

Quoted again to hopefully get specific answers this time.0 -

You just identified your problem. Without a food scale, you're probably eating more than you think. And if you keep fluctuating around the same weight, it's probably because you're actually eating at or around your maintenance calories, not at a deficit. Eating 'clean' and trying to boost your metabolism will do nothing if you're eating too much. A food scale is the only way to be as close to 100% accurate as possible, serving sizes mean nothing.0 -

You aren't weighing your food, so pretty sure you're overeating. SImple as that. If you were eating in a deficit, you would be losing (unless you have an underlying medical condtion).0 -

If you aren't losing, step one is to double check your logging accuracy. Weigh your food on a food scale. It's ridiculously easy to underestimate your food intake. Weigh your food and remove all doubt.

your eating to much
Serving sizes and measuring cups is NOT weighing your food on a food scale!
( i hoped to see that in the flow chart like i said people always say YES when you aske if they weigh their food)
So weigh your food on a food scale...Dont go by serving sizes or 1 medium banana entrees! or use cups and spoons for measuring.0 -
The thing is. When I was younger I would take some diet pills. They are dangerous. Look at the warnings they say drink with a full glass of water because they can get stuck in your throat and choke you. Also to watch for yellowing skin or eyes because they can shut down your liver. I'd rather not do that. Maybe try alli. It is FDA approved at least. But that doesn't mean it may not be dangerous. So still look into it before trying. Diet and exercise is much safer. Look at the above on possible issues.0

It may be FDA approved, but I'd advise against it. It doesn't speed up your metabolism. All it does is prevent fat from being absorbed by the body. This has a pretty horrible and embarrassing side effect.0 -
OP, what is your weight, height and age? This would help people figure out what might be going on.0
