Hello everyone!

I'm really hoping to lose a significant amount of weight this year(84 pounds to be precise). I've never dieted before in my life and my unwanted weight has creeped up over the years since I've had children. So does anyone have any tips on how to stick to my calorie intake for the day? Or have any mind over matter help for steering clear of foods that are bad for you(mine is chocolate!)?
Looking forward to your replies and insights!

My favorite cookbooks are Oh She Glows and Forks Over Knives and would be fine for gluten intolerance. I would pick one new recipe a week, pre log everything and stay away from processed foods as much as you can. I keep them around for convenience because it beats ordering pizza, but do you best. You will definitely feel better if you can cut out some of it.

I have both those books! Oh she glows Tex Mex casserole is a fav in our house. x Thing is I do eat everything from cooked scratch and fairly healthy. However I think it's portion sizes and figuring out what to snack on. I also work late at night so I think that messes up my metabolism a bit.

Thank you for the luck! X See I've tried eating the darkest chocolate I can find(90% Cocoa!)and at first it's too bitter to eat a lot of it then once I got used to the taste I can eat more! :(

Strength training is great of you can do it. I just try to stay busy to limit snacking, but it's difficult. My favorite thing right now is Zen almond milk chocolate pudding packs. Try measuring and pre logging for awhile and see if that helps with the portion sizes.

My vice at the moment is mint chocolate, anything that's those two combined. Well I walk at least 100,000 steps a week thanks to walking home from work and my workplace is huge so I walk a lot there. I do yoga 5 nights a week to help with all the walking I do. I've ended up posting on here as my weight has stayed the same despite doing more physical activity. So yea I'll try the prelogging of foods, thanks for your advice.

I'm gluten intolerant and haven't eaten gluten for 2 years now. I did get tested(blood test) and it came back negative but my body still didn't like gluten so I cut it out completely.
