Day 1

I am optimistic. Didn't think really hard about joining. Just decided on a whim this morning as my belly roll rolled over my pants when I sat down at work! I was underweight my entire life until about age 30. Something changed around that time. Metabolism I guess! To add to the sluggish efficiency of my body I had a baby at 31. Weight came off in 7 weeks (34 pounds). Did very well and maintained a weight I was happy with while being a stay at home mom. Went back to work when our daughter went to kindergarten. The weight just piled on. Worked shifts for 4 years alternating 2 weeks of 12 hour days then 2 weeks of 12 hour night which didn't help at all. Working M-F 8-5 now so I have a better schedule to work with. Daughter is now 19 so the weight has been around for a good while. Plan is to make small changes instead of going crazy and eliminating every food I love. I drink too much soda and love me some carbs. Thinking this is a good place to start with portion control. This first day or two I thought I might just eat whatever I normally eat and record it. Hoping the reality of seeing it on paper will shock me into a better eating/exercise habit. Good luck to anyone starting today and to everyone that has already started their journey.

Hi there! I've found that making small changes definitely works better than just plain dieting... I don't mind if it takes longer (I love food!) :) I also was at a good weight before kids, but..... since then (they're 15 & 12) I've been carrying around the extra. Glad that you're here!!!
