Benefits of Walking?

I walk home from work 5 days a week which takes me an hour. I know you can't spot reduce but my thighs have slimmed down a hell of a lot since I started and I feel much fitter generally. Even half an hour a day will improve cardiovascular health, and even though it doesn't burn THAT many extra calories, every little helps
Saying that, I would advise adding some strength training whenever you have time, even if you can only fit in a few reps of heavy weights a day.0 -
30 minutes of walking a day will get you out of the sedentary lifestyle that over 50 percent of Americans "pursue." The max you can burn by walking is around 300 calories for an hour, so the 150 you say you're achieving, is appropriate. This will not get you fit however. If you want to get physically fit, you should be adding additional 30 minutes, 5x a week of moderate to intense exercise that gets your heart rate to 65 - 85% of your maximum.0
