hi! I have a Fitbit charge and have a goal of 12,000 steps a day. I have it synced to my MFP account. If I go for a run and log that in my exercise diary, am I getting double "calories burned" when at the end of the day my total steps are synced.?

No. What you enter in MFP will over-write the probably better data collected by your Fitbit. So, it won't be double counted, but it will likely be less accurate. Let your Fitbit log your step-based exercise.

You might want to join the Fitbit User's Group and especially, read the FAQ that is in the stickies there. Here's a link to the FAQ:

Make sure you log it in only one place, either MFP or Fitbit, not both. You also have to make sure you entered the start time and the duration of the run correctly. If you do those things, you will not get double credit. Calories given for exercise that is logged takes precedence over the general step calories for the period of time included in your log.
