30DS PICS, Not What I Expected BUT Continuing On...

Well, I've accomplished something I've never done before. I completed Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. Honestly, I'm struggling a little with my results. I haven't lost any weight, and I don't think my pictures show a tremendous difference….I should probably cut out my weekly weekend alcohol consumption lol...I do know that I have lost some inches, but I've also gained in inches. Here are my stats...
START
4/21/2013
Right/Left Bicep: 11"
Waist (Smallest): 28.25"
Waist (Belly Button): 36"
Hips: 36"
Weight: 130
END
6/11/2013 L3D11
Right/Left Bicep: 11.5" (+ 0.5" gained)
Waist (Smallest): 28.25" (0" lost)
Waist (Belly Button): 33.5" (- 2.5" lost)
Hips: 37" (+ 1.0" gained)
Weight: 130 (0 lost)
I may not have achieved the differences in stomach pics that I have seen in other 30 DS transformations, BUT what I keep telling myself is that I MUST focus on my STRENGTH...I wish I had taken pictures of my legs and arms when I first started. Between day 1 and now, I have gained 0.5 inches in my guns lol, and I can definitely see some muscles appearing more when I'm hiking up those hills on the weekend.
*Note: I am continuing to do level 3 until I don't curse Jillian out during the walking pushups in circuit 3 lol
I keep telling myself, "I feel stronger, and that's all that matters" BAM BAM!

Congrats on finishing! I think you can tell a difference, especially on your side view. It's not drastic, like you sometimes see on here, but there is a difference. I think when you have less to lose, it seems less noticeable. That's how I felt about myself at least. Better to have less to lose and not get as dramatic of results than to have a long way to go and see a massive difference. :drinker:0

Hey! this is great! I can see a difference. I total agree with the prior post--I think when maintaining it's tough to see anything drastic. But I do believe strength training is cumulative but it takes a little while. I started strength training with the 30 day shred also, and it was really my first time with a video ever, let alone doing it for 30 days...quite a feat! After that, I did Ripped in 30, then some of the other Jillian workouts. I started in late January but then, finally, by around May??? I realized my maintaining size had gone down--instead of wearing 27 inch waist jeans I went down to 26....but my weight stayed the same throughout...so it takes a little longer but once you start this, you'll see some changes over time if you keep it up. I have pretty much remained the same ever since, and struggle with finding these subtle changes even now, after I have completed a zillion other programs since this time. Keep up the good work! And remember, changes don't always happen in 30 days, 60 days, 90 days....they are all personal to you, and will come in time. If I were you though I might try a program that supports some heavier weights, like ChaLean Extreme....loved that one. It's sort of Jillian-like with the combo strength/cardio but she helps break out of the comfort zone on lifting heavier.0

I just had the same post yesterday! Except I was disappointed with my results. I had pretty much the same as you and gained in my arm and thigh! Weird. But happy I was able to finish it! You look great already btw!0

Thanks everyone You're right...I stuck with it, and I am more in maintenance mode anyway
Robin, thanks for the suggestions for other programs to try! I'll have to check them out0 -
First off, you are one up on me. I have started 30DS twice and never made it to Level 2. So you should feel AWESOME just with that!!
And second, I can see a difference. Your mid section looks smaller and tighter and your arms looked more sculpted. :flowerforyou:
Congrats!!!0 -
You are doing so well. Just keep on and try another round maybe

I can see the difference!
and from what I can tell, losing belly fat is a very difficult thing to do generally. you've lost a lot there!0 -
I think there's a great difference in your tummy!!! Looks a lot smaller and stronger!0

I just started JM 30DS today and I would be thrilled if I got your results. From the pics you posted it looks like everything got tighter and it really shows in your midsection. That is where I struggle the most. I have 7.8 lbs to lose to get to UGW....but a tighter midsection would rock. You look fab!!! Keep up the great work.0

Thanks everyone You're all making me take a look back at my pictures and seeing some difference and feeling better0
