Thinking about starting IIFYM?

Ok Iifym-ers, I'm really considering trying this, but I don't really know how you go about doing it. I mean I know basically it's like you have a certain ratio I think of macros or maybe it's a set number of grams but how does that actually work on an everyday basis? How do you pick the foods you eat? And to me it seems like I would end up eating the exact same thing every day that I knew worked, which is what I'm doing now, eating the same thing and what I'm trying to get away from.

Right now I'm a year out of recovery from an eating disorder and am really looking to tone up, lose body fat, and also stop being so damn obsessive about my caloric intake. I virtually eat the exact same thing every day because I know it's "ok" and it works. I do this based on calories but it's really not even a decision anymore I simply repeat all my meals every day. And I do love my food but like if I travel or something it's so challenging.

I'm also a vegetarian and don't eat any diary products as well if that makes a difference.

Can someone show me how I would do this? After I get my numbers from a calculator and it's time to eat, then what? I've heard it called the pop tart diet... Where's my post art? I haven't had a treat in a year..

Help me?

This has been the most successful way I've lost weight in the past, and I'm starting it again because simple calorie cutting this last month isn't helping. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat much meat, so I think I can help some.

I have no idea about it being called the pop tart diet... I haven't eaten any! That said, anything in moderation. My diary is open if you'd like to see some food ideas, and my ratios/grams of macros are about what they should be, but my calories aren't quite high enough (which may be the problem causing my body to keep the weight on). That'll change as I transition over the next week.

How I pick the foods I eat... creativity, maybe? Idea taking, partly. I browse Pinterest, I talk to friends, I look at people's diaries. Some things are staples for me because I like them and they work, but it's also good to mix it up. I bought some black bean hummus (40 calories per serving compared to the usual 70-ish) to try when I'm done with the hummus I have now. I love beans, avocado, veggies, fruits. I'm liking apples and pb2 lately (a good peanut butter replacement). My best advice is browse around. If you like to cook, look at recipe sites. If you aren't much of a cook, there are all kinds of "30 best high protein snacks" articles and all that.

    Best of luck!
