Weekend Logging

I cant seem to get motivated on the weekends to log and watch what I eat. I have so much going on. During the week it seems to be more structured so it is easier to do. What are some tactics that you have done or are doing to stay on the track on the weekends?:drinker:

I use the phone app so I can log on the fly. That way there's no excuses, and I can log on one hand while cooking/eating wherever I am. Like anything else, it's a habit. Once you force yourself to do it a few times, it'll become habit.

Try logging everything ahead of time. I have a few friends who do that. You could plan out Friday what you are going to eat over the weekend and log what you can. Then if it changes or you just have the basics in there, it will not take as long to log the rest of the day.

What she said! I am still where I need the accountability of logging daily and am very thankful for the phone app and it really only takes a couple of minutes. It never even occurred to me to not log. Hmmmmmmmmm, I will keep choosing to log everything every day!

I use the phone app & usually log every morsel before it enters my mouth.

I've GREATLY reduced my Facebook time simply because I would rather use MFP. Facebook is full of drama and negativity. MFP is full of positive people, and will only benefit you in the end!

What a great question! So many of my mfp pals and i say the same thing! Saturday/Sundays just really hard!

Today, tomorrow and Sunday, I am going to really try to stay positive with my choices and be "proud" to log it. See how that works?

I think the planning ahead is huge, but because most of us spend all week running around, the last thing we want to do is plan. I am hoping to get to the grocery store TODAY to buy the yogurts, nuts etc. to keep those at my fingertips this weekend.

Good luck and thanks for the post!

If I know I'll be going out Saturday night, on Friday I'll plan out Saturday's breakfast and lunch. I'm more likely to be "good" if I log it ahead of time. If I know where we're going, I try to pick out a healthy dish from their online menu. If I have that in my head all day, I'm more likely to order it. I also try to exercise a bit more like go for a long bike/walk/jog ride or do some gardening (unless the weather stinks, then I'll whip out a DVD, grab my weights or do some other routine like 10pushups/15situps/20squats as many rounds as possible within 20 minutes). You should also have some handy snacks ready to go when you're tempted. I keep bananas on the counter; almonds in the cupboard; plain yogurt, ricotta cheese, fresh fruits and veggies in the fridge, 70 cal frozen yogurt treat in the freezer, etc. Other than that, I try not to worry about it. I'm really good the rest of the week... usually. One meal isn't going to ruin everything. If anything, I recognize that I feel bad/tired/sick after a heavy meal so I get some motivation to do better the next time.
