How does this program keep track of calories burned during exercise?

You log the exercise you did and it adds those calories back, because the daily goal you were given is before exercise. You only get a calorie estimate for exercise logged in under cardiovascular. You can over ride these numbers too.
MFP calorie burn estimates are generous...plan on eating back 50-75%0 -
You can manually enter exercises into your exercise diary or use one of the many smart phone apps to sync your exercising with MFP.
The MFP program then gives you additional calories for the exercise.
Since the calories are only estimates it is suggested that you only eat back about half of the exercise calories.0
