I now swim 4-5 times a week for around 90 minutes every week since starting a competitive swimming club, we swim fast and almost continuously through this time. how can you best maximise your diet to tone up and lose weight?

Tone up = Build muscle = Caloric surplus/recomp
Lose weight = Lose fat = Caloric deficit
Two different goals, can't really do them simultaneously.0 -
Spend some time on this discussion board and read the sticky threads. You'll find that the primary means by which you're going to lose weight is by eating at a calorie deficit. Swimming is excellent exercise and if it's something you enjoy, just keep doing it. Having an activity you enjoy helps keep you motivated. But understand too that weight loss is going to happen as a result of that calorie deficit and a lot of patience!0

I started swimming again earlier this year.. Twice a week for 90 minutes.... I am now within 2 pounds of my goal weight, but the swimming has made a huge difference in my overall body composition. If you enjoy it, go for it0

Swimming is so much fun and a great way to work out muscles you don't use on the regular. I think it would work better for slimming down not bulking up0

I just started swimming last week because of a foot injury, I really enjoy it and believe it would be a good way to lose weight and tone areas. I also am combining it with strength training though, circuit training mainly and I really enjoy the workout and so far havent seen to many results but I feel a lot better!0
