step towards change

The last few days I have been recording what I eat normally. I was shocked at the insane amount of calories I eat everyday 3000 or more every day. I have cut down to 1500 or less today. Any advice to maintain

    Use a food scale, use verified USDA entries for produce and meat in the database, don't use homemade entries unless you made them, and move more. You've already taken a great first step in evaluating your intake. Keep that up by staying in a deficit to reach your goals.
