Took a break, put on some weight. Started back up and weight is coming off really fast.

I am just making sure everything is okay. I took a break from all this a year ago. I put back on about 20 pounds. 11 days ago I got back into it. Picked up where I left off. Back to the foods still in my history. Back to walking using a app to calculate calories burned and adding them. But I am losing almost a pound a day! If I come under my calories, it is only a couple hundred. I am using the guides and measuring things exactly as before. The weight loss is rather steady. Not sudden. I have been watching it every day on the scale. It ranges from .8 to a whole pound a day.

Is this going to throw my body into starvation mode? I don't feel ill. Will it slow down soon?

    Water weight

    It's fine

Don't you remember the quick start to your last weight loss

starvation mode as you're using it doesn't exist

I agree that initial weight loss is a lot of water weight and GI clearance. It should slow down soon. If it continues for a couple weeks, then you'll want to increase your caloric intake. You don't want to lose weight too fast. I always say people should be eating as much as they can while losing weight at an appropriate rate.

I hope this happens to me. I stopped lifting 6 months ago but still counted my calories and only gained back 5 lbs. Just started up again. As everyone above me has said, it's nothing to worry about. It's water weight while your body catches up with the new lifestyle again.

Yes, I do remember the quick loss when I started, but it was about the same amount and I was much, much heavier then. I kind of assumed it would scale to my weight (300 the first time 225 this time). But it makes sense. I will keep an eye on things. I guess it makes me feel a little better that so far this water loss accounts for more than half of the weight I added back on. But I guess I will need to factor that into my final goal weight.
