I see a lot of debate about this on the internet, if Italians are consider white or not. I think this has the potential to help me land some jobs based on my racial status.
Please don't flame this and keep it civil, haters can go to another thread. Cheer, god bless :flowerforyou:

I think white people need to take a vote to decide...

I'd be questioning why there is a question for "race" on that job application.

I always fill in the blank with "Mediterranean-American."

No government set-asides yet, but I'm working on it.

I always put "other" if it says Caucasian instead of "White, or White, Non-Hispanic".

I'd be questioning why there is a question for "race" on that job application.

Employers are allowed to ask for race (in the US) because they get a tax credit for hiring minorities, people with legal disabilities, and veterans.

Hit them with a pan an then get drunk as a reward for a job well done :)

To be honest, I can't believe that in 2013 those questions still exist on a job application. They say it's data, or equality and **** like that, but surely equality would be to not ask it at all and simply let the chosen candidates turn up, regardless of their race?

If they're asking you on a job application, I'd turn down the job. That's just ridiculous.

I'm half italian and half french canadian... do you honestly think they're going to ask me what my background is?

I'm bilingual and I speak French... whether or not my heritage is french doesn't matter.

I guess in Canada, it really doesn't matter... there's laws against asking!

because it's 2013 and we should be beyond that but some people and organizations are slow to catch up....so they DO have to ask that...

government regulations are a symptom of the popular culture....
