Hey Guys....I'm 43, 230#, and have just started (once again) on the journey to that magical land of 150#. The worst time of day for me is the night...the evil "bowl of cereal' demons whisper in my ear....

I have a few techniques (workout before bed-time) to help me keep me from sneaking out of bed and visiting with the Capn' or Tony the Evil Tiger...

But always looking for a few more useful tips...anyone have anything that works well for them.

Always looking for new buddies on the path to lean to keep me grounded and on track, so friend me if you feel like it...

Save the calories for the night. Personally I eat up to my calories till 11:30pm each night.

Is the issue eating before bedtime or after you go to bed? I would make sure that when I went to bed, that I was full. It could be more that you need to work on better bedtime habits. For example, working out earlier in the evening, vs. right before you go to bed; no caffeine after a certain point in the afternoon; no TV after a certain point in the evening; or going to bed a decent time. There are much better suggestions out there on the Internet, but those are some thoughts that quickly came to mind.

If it's close (or close-ish) to bed time and I'm done with my calories for the day, I usually just have a glass of water. I read an article about the thirst trigger in today's society being so weak that most times, people mistake thirst for hunger and eat unnecessarily. I don't know how true that is, but water usually does the trick for me regardless.

If I do have a glass of water, and I'm still having pangs 20 minutes later, then I'll have a string cheese or handful of almonds.

On the other hand, I was way under calorie when I got home last night - I still had 600 calories leftover, but I wasn't hungry AT ALL before I climbed into bed. I forced myself to have a glsas of milk and some blueberries. And I woke up at 2am with that knife-like hunger stabbing in my gut - I was so miserable. So the other piece of advice I have, I guess, is to try to make sure you space your meals & snacks appropriately.
