Protein shakes - what do you add?
Hi...looking to keep getting my shakes in and I wonder what others do to make them taste good. I like them with ice so they are more full like a shake.. I add emergen C vitimin packet to vanilla, it's nice..and coffee to the chocolate flavor. I'd love some new ideas.

Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: protein shakes) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

Carnation Instant Breakfast (with milk) is pretty good. Sometimes I add some fresh fruit. I've had protien shakes that I've added just water ... man its just not good, its much better with milk.0

If you like gingerbread, Oxygen magazine has a recipe for a delicious Gingerbread cookie shake: 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1/2 cup vanilla enriched Rice Dream, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 T molasses, and ice cubes. Blend and drink ! Mmmmmm
I also like a Creamsicle, which is a cup of orange juice (I get the Healthy kids kind with extra calcium and vitamins), half a scoop of vanilla protein powder (I’ve been getting spirulina), and a lowfat vanilla yogurt. Blend and drink.
The Protein Packed Pina Colada smoothie is blended with the following ingredients: Cup cottage cheese, cup canned pineapple or cup pineapple juice, half a frozen banana, half a cup of milk, 1 T coconut, half a scoop vanilla protein powder, and a cup of ice cubes.
The Key Lime Protein Shake is blended with half an avocado, juice of a lime, 2 tsp lime zest, 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder, 1 T coconut, a cup of milk, and 1-2 packets of Stevia (optional).
The Chocolate Maple Shake is made by blending a cup of milk, 3 T protein powder, 1 T cocoa powder, and 1 tsp maple syrup

To vanilla protein, I add strawberries, frozen cherries and blueberries. Sometimes a banana. Yummy0

Well I am afraid I am not very interesting...a simple gal lol. but I always add ice and a small bananna or a cup of frozen berries (Strawberry and blueberry are my favorites). Thats usuall my breakfast and keeps me full because of the combination of protein from the shake and fiber from the fruit. Not to mention all the vitamins from the fruit I get as well0

PEANUT BUTTER!!!! A chocolate protein shake with a banana cut up in it and some peanut butter is sincerely delicious! I use ice as well, sometimes other fruits, occasionally even a scoop of coconut milk ice cream (rarely buy it though). But seriously, the peanut butter is delicious.0

i add 1 Tablespoon of sugar free pudding ( chocolate, vanillla and butterscotch ).... the butterscotch goes with van protein powder and 1 Tablespoon of crunchy peanut butter as well as your liquid and ice. It is awesome tasting.0

I make 2 if I need to bump up the calories:
2 scoops protein powder, 1 handfull cashews, 8 ice cubes 1 cup milk, 1 tblspoon pb, 1 cup frozen berries, 1 big *kitten* handfull of spinach. About 300+ calories in that one, probably more like 400?
2 scoops of coffee flavour protein, 8 x ice cubes, 1 cup milk for when I don't need the extra fats... Like a homemade iced coffee0
