Consistent, long-term calorie deficit. There's no way to spot reduce like that.

Nope, sorry. Spot reduction is a myth.
Maintain a calorie deficit over time by setting up MFP for weight loss, logging everything every day, and sticking to your calorie target. As fat comes off all over, it will eventually reduce in your belly.
A heavy lifting program in combination with fat loss, or if you're already quite slim, as part of a recomp (or bulk/cut cycle) can help overall appearance and shape given a lot of time and dedication (and enough protein and rest). Good beginner programs include: Stronglifts, Starting Strength, New Rules of Lifting for Women, Strong Curves.0 -
hahaha I wish, I lost 40lbs and look thin except I cannot lose the fat around my belly. I am told by trainers that you have to be very strict with diet which is what I am trying to get better with.0

It's more about being strict with calorie consumption than "diet" in general. By that I mean you need to be accurate with your intake.0 -
I'm in the same boat; I think my belly and thigh fat will be the last to go. I'm losing fat elsewhere and I look kind-of silly now, but at least I'm losing. I'm just going to keep on keepin' on, I know it will come off at some point.0

okay maybe I worded that wrong, but I am working with someone now to help me get there. I always stay within my calories but I am no longer making progress that way.0 -

I looked at your diary, and you're logging is not the best. You seem to use some generic and homemade entries and a lot of your days seem incomplete, unless you're really only eating 500 calories some days? The closer to goal you get, the more important it is to be tight with your logging.0 -

tips
accurate logging

You have some great tips on here. Bottom line is you have to really be consistent with alot. Try not to eat out where tracking is harder. Also use a food scale at home and at work. If you want to take it up a notch bring the scale to restaurants. You may get a look but F'em. I find lot of foods are off from what the package says too. Weigh in grams not ounces. If I may add lowering your sodium intake and more cardio may help depending on how close you are to your flat stomach that you are aiming for. It will take time. Be patient and lots of luck.0

Try a calorie deficit for an extended period of time.
