So i bought my fitbit charge HR today and after i charged it and put it on my wrist it told me i burned over 1000 calories. now im up to 1501, also on my account it says i burned 1708 each day (before i owned it) is there a way to reset everything?

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE, the number of calories necessary to maintain your current weight. The day you set it up, it has to guesstimate your burn since midnight. So today's burn will be a mess. Going forward it will be accurate.

I wondered the same thing when I first got mine. Then I realized that it was basing my calories off of just what my body will have burned without doing any activity. So those 1000 calories are just what your body would have burned from midnight until you put it on. The same with the 1708. It's just what your body would have burned those days without any activity.

    Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

Enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings and set your goal to .5 lb. per week for every 25 lbs. you're overweight. Set your activity level to sedentary for now.

Log food & drink (including water) in MFP. No need to log any step-based exercise—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit (that's what I do) or in MFP—never both. If you want your Fitbit stats to appear in your MFP newsfeed, post a status update.

Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments.

the main reason why i bought it was to I can record my heart rate while i'm doing exercise outside of the gym. make sure i'm reaching good heart rate.

this is going to sound completly crazy is that if i get a food scale and start logging everything, i will find it tedious and stop. Also, family will see and then i'll have them "try to help". they think its motivation when in fact its having the reverse effect... something about when family tells me not to eat something it makes me want it more.

The motivation to eat clean on here is so much better than what i get from people i know. The way i see it, we are all in this together.
