How much water should I be drinking?

*Please! No Negativity!

I work in a factory that, for the past few days has been between 96 and 100 degrees. In the time I'm there, I usually only drink about 5 or 6 8 oz cups of water. I don't go to the bathroom a whole lot while I'm there.I definitely don't want to be dehydrated but I think that's the reason for not going. If I'm sweating, I'm obviously not losing fluids in other ways. My question is, (unrelated to weight loss), how much water SHOULD I be drinking working in those conditions? Normally in a whole day I do drink 8 glasses of water but I feel like I should be drinking more because of the heat conditions at work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It's probably best to drink a glass of water at least every hour.

Look at your urine. If it's dark yellow you need to drink more. If it's light straw coloured or lighter, you're not dehydrated...

Drink as much as you feel you need, there's no hard set number. There is a guideline that you should drink 8 cups/day, but you may need more if you're active or less if you're indoors all day.

If I'm feeling hungry, I have some water first because often hunger and thirst can be confused.

I have heard it should basically be half your weight. Anyways, I would aim for 10-12 cups.

Water is my favorite drink. I also take kidney meds and they dry me out, so I go through a 32 bottle case in a week by myself. It took some getting used to but now I wouldn't have it any other way.

There are no rules beyond that

If you're not thirsty, it's unlikely that you need to drink (barring extreme exercise and heat scenarios).

I have a 22oz bottle I bring to work occasionally, and can fill it up multiple times while I'm there. I generally mindlessly drink from it all day. Instead of focusing on cups, see about bringing in a huge water bottle with you, and playing it by how you feel at work when it comes to refilling it. Since it is a bit toasty in there, I would focus on drinking regularly to make sure you are hydrated enough.
