Wheat sensitivity?

Does anyone have a problem with weight gain when they eat wheat such as pancakes, pizza, etc.? Yesterday we went to IHop to celebrate my granddaughters' last day of school. I ate 2 slices of dry rye toast (instead of 1) and a1/8 of a pancake with fruit topping along with my dinner of 2 slices of turkey bacon and scrambled egg whites. I had done well the rest of the day. I gained 1.4 lbs yesterday. This has happened when I eat a bit of pizza too. It seems that I gain pretty much whenever I eat some type of wheat product. I am a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump. Any ideas?

    Water/bloat.

I magically lost 2.4 lbs in one day earlier this week. Water. :)

Look at the scale once a week. Any more often is not going to give you good information.
When people eat carbs (bread) and pizza (carbs & the sodium in the cheese and tomato sauce) they gain temporary water weight. When that happens, drink more water. :)

If you were gluten-intolerant, the symptoms would be astronomical, not just a bit of bloat.

What MamaBirdBoss said. Water. Probably due to high sodium.

That doesn't sound like a sensitivity, based on how you decribe it.
The people I know who have sensitivies to wheat/dairy/ect have violent stomach pains, difficulty with digestion, and cannot physically consume those items.

Weight "gain" after eating a meal is normal. Sodium, water retention, the weight of the food in you, waste produced from eating said food, ect all factors into normal daily flucuations of weight. I sometimes "gain" 5lbs in a day. 1.8lbs of "gain" after a meal out (especially at a chain like Ihop) is normal.

Edit: OP, I reposted my response to your thread in the Food/Nutrition forum. There's no need to cross-post on multiple boards; generally easier to get a response when you keep a thread to one board!

As others have said, weight gain after a meal is normal. I get what I call "Food baby" lol! But it doesn't last long. On the other hand I can say that if and when I eat grains of any kind these days I have horrible reactions including stomach pains, hot flashes, bloating for days among other things I won't mention. My body can't tollerate most of these types of foods. There is a big difference between weight from a meal in general and not being able to digest these products.

Yeah that's not wheat sensitivity. Wheat sensitivity will have you doubled over in pain. That's you eating salty things (pizza, turkey bacon, etc) and retaining water like a boss. Your body is doing its job!

My weight fluctuates 1-5 pounds on any given day. It's not actual weight gain though :)
