I think it's a non-announcement. Word on the street was she was going to announce something else, but changed it at the last minute.

I think the longer someone has been vegan the less annoying they get with it, you start to learn how to talk to people about it, or not talk to people about it...

My first few years of being vegan I was incredibly annoying and completely the stereotype. Now that I've been vegan for as long as I have, i would like to say i'm less pushy and irritating..... at least about that. This doesn't hold true for all of us, but for most that I've personally seen....

you catch more flies with honey....errr

From everything I'm reading most vegans are super happy about Beyonce "coming out" but I'm still confused about the fur stuff...I want to like her because of her feminist stance, but I can't get past the fur and that stupid put a ring on it song....

I feel the same way about Ellen DeGeneres....everyone LOVES her, but I can't get past the fact that she claims vegan but she is a spokes person for Cover Girl....annoys me.

Is it possible that some Vegans only think of protecting the animals we widely eat. If you do not eat "rabbit" then they are fair game? Rabbit are not considered food for most people.

I've never heard anyone think that way, according to the philosophy that is not really a vegan idea.

But who the heck knows, people are freaking bizarre.

People will always find a way to bend any rule that is preventing then from getting what they want.

She's not really vegan, just plant-based. She doesn't give a crap about the animals.

Beyonce is not a vegan. She went on a vegan diet for 22 days as a weight loss measure. In the full promo for her weight loss plan she mentions that she of course eats meat again already. That bit just didn't make it on the news.

She and her husband are major shareholders, along with her personal trainer, in a company that sells a 22 day diet of prepared vegan meals (Think vegan nutrisystem). It runs around $600 for the three weeks. Here's an article from someone who tried it

Judging from the pictures and descriptions of the meals I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a VLCD with food supplied.

Good Morning America basically played clips from her pre-recorded promotional video (ie. commercial) without clearly explaining it was an ad. ugh.

She didn't announce she was vegan. She announced that she did or does the 22 day vegan diet and is promoting a new vegan delivery service and the diet. In the same announcement, she also stated that she still eats meat, just makes better choices and feels better while on the 22 day vegan diet.

So basically, she is promoting a temporary Vegan diet to shed pounds, then gain it back when you go back to regular eating.......sounds like another roller coaster ride to me.

I'm only vegetarian, but I don't announce it to the world. It's funny, some friends of ours wanted to have us over for dinner, and when my husband told them I don't eat meat they didn't know what to make. They took us out to eat instead. A lot of people don't seem to understand that I'll find something to eat, usually sides. Unless the only thing on the menu is a ham, I won't go hungry. I can eat anywhere, and not eat meat, and not announce it.
Being vegan is more difficult though, I can recognize that. It would be very difficult to go out anywhere and avoid all dairy, egg product, etc. Which is one reason I won't go vegan. That, and general cost.
Beyonce' announcing that she is eating vegan though, is to give publicity to her new book. I'm sure she also wants to spread the word of what a difference it has made for her personally, as well. But I hope her new diet book has taken in to account that not everyone will be having personal chefs carefully preparing their meals, which can make it more difficult for the average Joe.

I am the same. I mention it sometimes on here, but only when its relevant to the conversation (not surprising it is more relevant here based on the nature of the site). If I am going round someone's to eat I usually tell them as it can get awkward if they do not know ahead of time - but I make it clear that I can make do with the sides or I will bring something easy to prepare/heat up to not inconvenience someone too much (and dessert is invariably vegetarian, so there is always that). Other than that, I usually only mention it if going out and someone suggests a steakhouse (especially if I am paying lol) as its hard to find something decent in places like that.

I do not announce it as its a non issue for me usually - then again, I have been one for over 25 years so have got used to adapting around the restriction.

At the end of the day, the only reason for her to announce it is for publicity and she is not a vegan anyway. It does a disservice to those who are imo.

Same here. I'm back to being an omnivore (to accommodate my SO), but when I was vegetarian for 5 years, I definitely tried to downplay it and just eat sides. Even steakhouses can work (baked potato and veggies....mmmm!). BBQ restaurants were the hard ones for me....."I'll just have the coleslaw and okra, please". Blech! lol

However, I do think that it's a bit harder to be a vegan (vs. a vegetarian) and eat in other places, since even breads would likely have eggs and/or dairy.

Yep standard diet industry spiel. Get skinny with no effort in just a few weeks. The video even claims one guy lost an amazing 70 pounds (results not typical) by keeping up the diet for 4 months... That doesn't sound like a safe rate of loss to me. They even have their own branded protein powder, and bars because of course they do.

Of course when you go back to regular eating and gain a bunch, you just need to pay them for another round of the vegan meals because obviously the habit didn't stick. ugh.

Just don't watch or read crap publications. I had no idea Beyonce was vegan until I read your post. It's not the kind of news I have time for.

well technically news is "a report on change" so if she changed her diet then its news haha. But for that matter, is anything celebrities do news worthy? I don't care about hollywood, never have never will.

I don't read most celebrity "news", nor do i have cable to watch news, but information like this pops up everywhere, especially on the internet...

I take it you don't have facebook? It was all over that for me...
