See a Dr and check your shoes

Could be tight hip flexors or a sprained tendon, or could be much more. Look into some yoga stretches for hip flexor tension and if no relief is noticed definitely contact a doctor, sometimes pain isn't worth pushing through!

Yeah, front of the hip is not a place where you want to mess around with pain.

I generally believe that strengthening your glutes, quads, and hip flexors can help with most lower leg problems, but in the case of pain where you describe, I'd be at the doctor to make sure it isn't a developing stress reaction/stress fracture.

In the meantime, you probably want to switch to an alternate form of cardio/intervals (rowing, elliptical, etc--something that doesn't hurt). The last thing you want is to turn a mild hip flexor strain or whatever into a serious, months-long problem!
