Should I go to the gym tonight?

after last Monday I decided I would only do Tuesday Thursday and Sunday. I'm also sore today, pretty bad. But I feel motivated to go tonight. I also have some housework to take care of. Finally I overate this weekend and want to make up for it.

rest days are important...and working out just because you overate isn't really a very healthy outlook on fitness.0

Also I am not a huge fan of the Monday night zumba instructor. Which is why I decided Tuesday instead.0

Don't push yourself, the gym will still be there when you feel better It will only cause problems down the road. Even if you overate you probably didn't do enough damage to actually gain any real pounds.0

Okay. That wasn't the response I was expecting. Maybe I'll just aim to go on a walk tonight. Thanks!!0

Do some active recovery instead - or just rest and heal. Finally I overate this weekend and want to make up for it.0 -

Sounds like an unhealthy attitude to both food and exercise.
I guess I didn't see it that way. I just have started seeing some results and don't want to blow it. I did have an eating disorder previously. Maybe this is just another way it can pop up in my healthy lifestyle goals. I will try to be aware of that. So really just aim to exercise for fitness and toning. But not correlate it to calories as much.0 -
let me be the voice of dissent here. the other day I overate like CRAZY (we're talking about 5k+ calories for the day) ended up doing 2 workouts for that day due to the excess energy. Ended up with huge PR numbers for squat and was surprised at my endurance for my BB volume routine.
If you overate for the day feel free to make use of that excess energy. I used to take long walks after large meals. As for overeating a couple of days ago; if you don't feel an excess of energy I wouldn't bother overexercising just control your diet for a day or two cause if you over stress yourself it would just make recovery slower.
however to contradict what I just said, the human body can take quite a bit of punishment and not overtrain. I did a 5 day full body routine on m/tu/w/fri/sat for 3 hr sessions and felt stronger day by day.0 -

Ha-ha I know you wanted a response like above but don't hurt yourself! One bad day of overeating will not ruin your progress, eating like that everyday will. Your body needs rest, too0 -

maybe go for a walk then do some stretching after. And a long soak in the bath ( if it isn't too hot where you are, it's winter for me )0
