Preparing To Bulk

I'm looking at hopefully starting to bulk but not until October. The reasoning not until then is I've signed up for a half-marathon in September. I've been told that it's not possible to bulk and maintain a heavy cardio schedule at the same time.

Are there are suggestions that people can give me that would help aid me when the time comes around? I'm new to the bulking phase and first time so am a complete newbie so apologise in advance if I ask any stupid questions.
