Lifting post-hernia surgery

I had inguinal hernia surgery in early March (right lower quadrant of the abdomen) with mesh implantation. Prior to the hernia, I was using StrongLifts 5x5 (and I believe the hernia manifested, in part, because of the lifting).

After the summer (like August) I intend to start lifting again (for muscle tone, mostly), but I'm concerned about doing SL, and I'm looking for advice on a good program that would keep my repair in mind. I have mentioned it to my surgeon, but he didn't actually have any ideas about what would be appropriate. I have mentioned it to a physical therapist, but he didn't have any specific regimen that he could recommend.

So here I am, crowd-sourcing a good lifting program for toning that keeps my hernia situation in mind.

I Cannot give you a program but what I can do is assure you, you should not have any problems lifting. I had the same OP and six weeks after went back to squatting and deadlifting.
Squatting now is at 140 kg and deadlift is at 180 kg (for pounds ×2.2) I am male and 56 years old and train 6 x a week.

I had the same surgery two years ago. I had it third week of October and my surgeon said not to lift anything heavy for at least two to three months. He said I could start lifting very light about 6-8 weeks after. As hard as it was not exercising and running for that long, I think it was worth it. I know we want to get back soon but have patience as you don't want to tear anything. I started back full weights and running about mid February. Just be careful whatever your doing.
