I bought a spiral isn't and so far used it once! Makes a lot of mess, requires major washing up for a bit of salad and it makes a long hole in the veg which is waste. Would rather use a chopping board and knife, disappointed, am I doing it wrong?

I have the $30 dollar model and so worth it. I spiralize way more then zuchinni that seems to be the only things that fits in the cheaper models. I do butternut squash and sweet potatoe and then pulse in my food processor to make rice. I do the ribbon cutter on apples and make fruit salads for my boys.0

This thread and the one on kitchen gadgets have inspired me to buy a spiralizer. I admit I have been toying with the idea for a while. I order this one last night from ebay for $4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vegetable-Spiral-Slicer-Kitchen-Shred-Tools-Cutter-Slicer-Peeler-New-/231591915714?nma=true&si=yhVUADhiZVBBG1c5SejU6rFyzQQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
It will arrive Tuesday, and I am almost certain to use it within a few days of getting it. I figure for $4, even if it is a disaster I haven't invested much in the experiment. LOL!0
