I've been trying to lose weight since I got home from my program. I went to a one year drug/alcohol program where they served just enormous portions of food I enjoyed! Lots of carbs (beans, rice, noodles ect.) Meats, Cheese, bread....not to mention the sweets.
I came home and weighed about 139-140.
I am now at 136.8 and am 5"4 (23 yrs old)
There was one good day when I joined the website where the scale read 134.9 but I must have imagined that because I haven't seen it since... .
So now my weight right when I wake up is the 136.8....
I have been exercising daily and watching what I eat. Today, I ate the most then I have since I have gotten back and that has been a struggle....
This is the first time I have ever tried to lose weight and of course I expected it just to fall off. It is taking longer and more determination then I realized!

Congratulations on completing a year-long drug/alcohol program, keep up the good work!
I'm the same height as you, but more weight to lose and age (41). You are technically in a range that isn't considered overweight, so being closer to your goal weight is harder the closer you are to your goal. In other words, if you were 50 pounds more, it'd likely come off easier than when you only have a small amount to lose. I wouldn't think your weight gain is actually from fat, but likely from sodium. Try to weigh yourself at the same time, and preferably not every day (turn me OCD if I did!). I hope the weight starts to come off, and sooner than later! Do your best to eat healthy, and keep up the workouts. I wish I had more to offer than this, but sometimes it takes more than a week to get things moving. I had the scale go up on me last week and was floored, it's upsetting when you're doing your best and not only does it not go down or stay where it's at, but to go up??? Not a good feeling! One tip I plan to do that people tell us to do is to measure our body (waist, thigh, hip, etc.). That way even if we go up, we can weigh ourselves and know we are getting somewhere.
Best of luck!

Dont beat yourself up its only been two weeks. I am fairly new too, and seeing people that have stuck with it for months and years is my motivation. I know I can do this and you can too. I feel your pain though because this morning I felt like throwing the damn scale out the damn window. How the hell do you gain weight when your staying on track! But I've read that this is one of the many challenges you might have to deal with. Apparently its probobly not gained weight, maybe muscle, maybe water retention. Whatever it is it sucks. But lets stick with it and in some months we will be posting success pics too!!!

thank you both for the encouragement!
I have a total OCD thing going on with the scale. It's a terrible habit and awful how you almost expect to be like 5 LBs less.
Gotta just keep on going and not giving up.
This is something I want and I am determined to get it!0
