Calorie in vs calories out

lol hmm burning 2k a day
like, training for a marathon every day? idk
I think people were confused by the OP's use of the word "burn" assuming she meant from exercise, but she's quoting her FitBit total calories burned which is essentially her TDEE, in which case, close to 2k/day is not at all unreasonable.

yep that makes sense
even I didn't know that it shows your TDEE, which is pretty damn cool0 -

Well... it's an estimate. Depending what kind of exercise you do, it may or may not be terribly accurate. For me, I mostly walk with some circuit training. I enter the circuit training in as separate exercise, but I think it is reasonably accurate for me, it says I burn about 2150/day. One thing that is kind of nice is that it updates daily, and you get a weekly summary with your averages so you can see if things are starting to move one direction or another. Mine has been increasing with summer because I'm more active, but if I was just relying on a Scooby Calculator or something like that I might not remember to update with increased activity levels.

yeah definitely a good point about daily changes and weekly averages. most people don't do the same exact things every day, I'm sure
it would be nice if MFP made it easier to track an average (weekly, monthly, anything really lol)0 -

I hope it's not
I hope it's using the pedometer function for the majority (the function that it built its business on) and only overwriting it with a calorie burn when the user enters steady state cardio...but I suspect it overwrites when hr goes up
Because if it's doing what you say it's going to be really much more innaccurate than I suspect it already is
And I am a fitbit zip user ...and rely on its pedometer function implicitly because over the last year it has proved accurate based on my bodyweight
I use a polar HRM to monitor specific workouts and overwrite my fitbit with times
