I'm kind of a beginner on running, I am training for a 10k in a month and just did six miles for the first time the other day! But anyway I was just curious what kind of diet experienced runners stick to?! Thank you

I run about 8 to 9 miles every other day but diary says that I eat nothing but junkfood so I don't stick to no diet.

I burn too many calories in a week to consider trying to stick to some so-called "healthy diet". If I did that I would disappear entirely. I drink a lot of beer to help keep up.

Some people run so they don't have to worry about their diet. Myself, I'm mostly focused on getting sensible carbs, healthy proteins and fats, and getting enough of them. That makes sense for me and my current situation though (keeping diabetes and coronary artery disease at bay). You could check out some of the books by Matt Fitzgerald on running nutrition. There is useful info in there for any runner, I believe.

I just finsihed a marathon. and while i didnt gain any weight during traingin ( apparently its common ) I sure as heck didnt lose any. I ate pretty healthy (lots of veggies, lean meats, good grains) but i just ate more of it. I was always hungry. in the past i have lost 70 pounds through dieting and cardio 2 days a week and lifting 3-4 days. when training for the run i was cardio for 5 days a week at least a hour 4 times and 2+ hours once a week. so my body just needed more fuel!

now flash forward to today. three days post marathon and I am absolutly freaking starving! and im craving fatty foods, burger, ice cream, donuts, frappachinos etc. I think im going to indulge that monster for a few days and then get back on track.

now to answer your question with short 6 mile runs your probably going to be fine still eating at deficiet and losing while your doing it. you porobaly wont feel overly hungry as you would if you were doing more milage. I would just stick to good carbs, lean protiens and healthy fats and maybe just add a little more calories on your longer run days. if and when you bump up to longer distance training thats when the hunger comes on strong
